The Carolina Cup went off last weekend bigger than ever. It has become one of the biggest races in the U.S. with over 700 participants!! There were races for all ages and skill levels. The kids and intermediate paddlers raced inside the inlet with nice calm water, while the elite paddlers raced the 13.5 Mile Graveyard course... Do not underestimate the difficulty of the Graveyard Course! It is brutal, with bits of every condition from downwind, flatwater, open ocean, waves, upwind, crosswind, drafting, and 2 to 3+ hours of it can take a toal on even the fittest of paddlers.
Team Riviera did great in the race with 6 paddlers in the Mens top 22, and Helga Goebel finishing 10th in the womens div. We are also very proud of our Junior team Paddler 15 yo Nick Scheel, proving that he isn't a grom anymore by beating all the men in the 12'6" division on the 13.5 Mile Graveyard race! The Team was racing their RP-Series Raceboards... Most opting for the RP-14' x 25".
The Fleet hitting the Ocean with a few miles to go to the finish!
Brennan Rose... All smiles as he crosses the finish.
