Riviera has Teamed up with Ramsay Mead of Paddle Core Fitness to bring you a series of workouts to strengthen your paddle stroke. Ramsay is an exercise physiologist, master of fitness sciences, and a core trainer for 20 plus years. Ramsay is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as a registered yoga therapist and Holistic health practitioner. He brings his own unique style to the growing sport of stand up, and we are stoked to have him on the team!
Fit-to-Paddle - Level 4 – TRX
The TRX is a great exercise tool for the paddler as it can safely load the joints and tissues through a suspended gravity system and one’s body weight. Easily accessible and portable, this tool remains one of my favorites for providing functional movements comparable to cable pulley systems. Here are just a few of some great core activators in relation to SUP.
Workout Notes:
High Back Extension
Paddler Benefits - Awesome upper-back extension for paddler strokes and hip integration with stretch contract movement, great for breathing expansion
Muscles Worked - Posterior back, core, legs
Single Leg Hop
Paddler Benefits - Explosive lateral transfer using short term energy system
Muscles Worked - Quads, hamstrings, calfs

Thomas "Maximus" Lobster diving from his Riviera 12'6" Voyager.
We had been wanting to do this shoot for a while, and finally all the pieces fell together. Thomas had his Voyager already rigged and we knew we were going to have a full moon that week. My plan was to have 2 boats to shoot from, 1 with the Pro Photo strobe hooked up to the Honda Generator, and then I'd be on top of Boat #2 shooting pictures. We headed out of Dana Point Harbor at around 6 loaded with crew of set designers's, key grip's, and stunt coordinator's including Mike Muir, Thomas Shahinian, Jeff Bush, Mickey Munoz, Brad Rambo, and myself Taylor Rambo... We hit a few spots and shot a few photies until the moon decided to rise over the hills of San Clemente and we pinned it to Seal Rock where the ad was shot. We shot a handful of photos until all the lobster were sufficiently stunned from the flashing, then thomas jumped in and bagged a few.
Here are a few shots from the trip. To check out the Voyager click HERE!

Highlights of South Tahoe Stand Up Paddle's, Race the Lake of the Sky...
This event was a huge success. South Tahoe Stand Up Paddle rallied a huge crew of locals to help out and organize this event. The 5 mile and 14 mile races were stacked with professional paddlers, and the kids race and SUP Cross races were very exciting to watch! You missed the race but you didn't miss out. South Tahoe Stand Up Paddle holds a Wednesday Night Sup series all summer long, Not to mention their daily SUP Rental Service right on the beach. Plan a trip out to Tahoe to race and enjoy the South Lake!
